The IDI has only one training program so far; that is the one to prepare teachers to share the First Week Rules for the discernment of spirits, which is offered both in-person and online.

Certification to lead the Spiritual Exercises would probably require some prior training in spiritual direction, and this requires in-person communication (as opposed to online) to be done well. For example, the Oblates of the Virgin Mary operate Lanteri Center here in Denver. They offer a spiritual direction training program (in-person), followed by a program for those who wish to guide others through the Exercises (also in person).
