Our Mission
The Ignatian Discernment Institute equips people of all vocations to live the spiritual life with greater clarity, joy, and fruitfulness through the teaching of St. Ignatius of Loyola on discernment.

In a world where discouragement, anxiety, and spiritual disorientation are widespread, the Institute offers a path of hope. Through the wisdom of Ignatius and the pastoral method developed by Fr. Timothy Gallagher, OMV, we help souls recognize the interior movements of their hearts and respond with peace and confidence in God.
Our Vision
We envision a world in which every soul—whether lay or ordained, young or old, married or single, devout or seeking—has access to the wisdom of St. Ignatius’s teaching on discernment and the freedom it brings.
Our goal is to become the most accessible source of this teaching, offering it through retreats, media, books, and training. By equipping teachers and sharing this formation broadly, we hope to set countless lives free from spiritual discouragement and the burden of interior unrest as they apply it to their own lives.
This is more than information. It is formation that renews hope and clarity for the journey of faith.

In matters of discernment, the Institute adheres to Ignatius's Rules for Thinking with the Church (#352-370 of the Spiritual Exercises), in which he says, "We must put aside all judgment of our own, and keep the mind ever ready and prompt to obey in all things the true Spouse of Christ our Lord, our holy Mother, the hierarchical Church."
The Heart of the Work
The Institute’s mission is built on two core convictions:
-
Spiritual discouragement is one of the most urgent and widespread challenges in the world today.
-
St. Ignatius’s Rules for the Discernment of Spirits—especially as taught through the pastoral pedagogy of Fr. Timothy Gallagher, O.M.V.—offer one of the Church’s clearest and most powerful responses.
This teaching changes lives. And we believe everyone should know it.
